On the 3rd of November, 1911, the Chevrolet Motor Car Company was founded in Detroit. Louis Chevrolet, a Swiss race car driver, and engineer, and William C. Durant, formerly the founder of General Motors, joined forces to launch this company.
By 1916, Chevrolet had gained recognition for its dependability with the creation of the Series 490, Impala, Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1, and Chevrolet Corvair Corsa. This allowed Durant to reclaim the majority of GM’s shares and join Chevrolet with it. A year later, the company released the first lightweight truck designed with a passenger car chassis. A decade after that, Chevrolet presented the first overhead-valve inline six-cylinder engine. During the 1950s, the iconic Corvette and small-block V8 engine were released.
