Mercedes-Benz built the 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II in 1990 to homologate a sharper weapon for the German Touring Car Championship, where it battled BMW's M3. Its Cosworth-developed four-cylinder and dramatic Sauber-developed aero kit, including the tall rear wing, made it unmistakable on road and track.
